—Owner and Potter, Hamilton Williams Gallery and Studio, Morgantown, North Carolina
Hamilton Williams is known for hand built and wheel-thrown functional stoneware pottery. His surface techniques include carved designs that complement the form of the pieces.
These include carved lines around the rim of a plate, spiral lines reaching the finial of a lidded vessel, and symmetrical floral designs created in the center of a bowl. Other surface techniques are sgraffito and reticulated or pierced designs. Williams uses multiple glazes from a pure white high ngloss glaze to blue, reds, and ochres. Williams sometimes uses ash glazes.
When Williams relocated his pottery to Morganton, NC he created the Hamilton Williams Gallery where he displays his own pottery and other regional artisans and artists.
