PRIMARY WORK EXPERIENCE

1962 US Army, draftsman, Teacher, pottery assistant to Teruo Hara, Corcoran Museum and Art School, Washington, District of Columbia.

Studio Assistant, Toshiko Takaezu.

 

BIOGRAPHY

Lee Shank is  known for glazed porcelain beads and jewelry as well as functional stoneware pottery. Shank and wife, Dorothy Hutchins Shank, worked together in Shank and Shank Pottery. 

Although ationally known as a potter, Lee Shank invented and developed several machines to help potters with their daily work, including the Grabber Pad, Bead Rollers, Amazing Glazing Machine®, and Lee’s Soup-a clay product.
