Linn Phelan worked with earthenware clay that was coated with a cream colored base glaze that was then decorated using sgraffito along with under and over glazes.

Phelan created personalized baby sets and commemorative wedding and birthday pieces to order. His inventories indicate he produced nearly 39,000 ceramic pieces during his career.
