1932 Born

APPRENTICESHIPS AND RESIDENCIES

Resident Program, Penland School of Crafts, Penland, North Carolina

PRIMARY WORK EXPERIENCE

Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois

Jane Peiser hand builds using colored porcelain to create intricate patterns and subtle color gradations.  This process results in unique pieces of visually complex integral patterns.  Often pattern gives way to representational scenes filled with flowers and animals. She uses relief pieces of either solid colored clay or patterns to add another dimension to her work. Throughout her career, she has explored many forms including functional pieces. This body of work may include small sculptures that function as handles. Most of her work is salt glazed.
