PRIMARY WORK EXPERIENCE

1975-1985 Owner and founder of The Beginning, a pottery workshop, gallery, and supply store, Bellingham, Washington.

 

BIOGRAPHY

Michael McDowell is known for high fired stoneware pottery, often with hand carved patterns or simple glaze designs. McDowell’s common forms include jars, urns, decorative bowls, teapots, mugs, and ceramic cabinet knobs.

McDowell’s work is influenced by extensive travel.  In 1986, McDowell moved to Ferndale, Washington where he continues to live and work as a studio potter.
