BIOGRAPHY 

Shirley Johnson is known to have made high fire functional stoneware pottery.  

Johnson worked under famed Minnesota potter Warren MacKenzie while taking classes at the University of Minnesota and went on to work in MacKenzie’s studio as a production assistant. Johnson started working out of a studio at the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota when it opened in 1990. 

Johnson also worked as an editor and contributor to Craft Connection Magazine. Archives of Johnson’s work for the magazine can be found through the Minnesota Digital Library
