BIOGRAPHY

Douglas Johnson is known for functional stoneware pottery. Surface techniques include crystalline glazes, salt glazes, sprigging, carving, modeling, etc.   Common functional forms are plates, platters, bowls, vases, and mugs. Johnson is also known for site-specific ceramic mosaics. These are architectural scale frequently with three dimensional elements such as flowers, leaves and stems.

Originally from Berkeley, Johnson moved to Navarro, California in 1974 to open Pepperwood Pottery.
