Samantha Henneke’s pieces are typically made using porcelain or light colored stoneware. She makes a diverse range of functional and decorative ceramics working with a variety of forming techniques. Her pieces are usually thrown to accommodate a particular glaze.
Henneke's surface decoration ranges from simple glaze swirls and polka dots to paintings of insects. She incorporates surreal images on her porcelain works, for example, a larger than life red-eye fly painted onto the surface.
Henneke and her husband, Bruce Gholson, manage and work at Bulldog Pottery, a noted contemporary pottery in Seagrove, North Carolina.
