Nathan Willever makes functional stoneware pottery. His clay body is a red stoneware while his surface often employs white slip, terra sigillatta, underglaze, and illustrations.

Willever's illustrations can be a simple design of finger trailing on the white slip surface which exposes the red clay body, or illustrations of fish or leaves. Willever has many methods of firing his pots, including wood, gas, electric, raku, soda, and salt. This results in a variety of different surfaces in his work.
