Melody Wolfe Thomas is known for stoneware functional pottery wheel-thrown on a kick wheel and terracotta sculpture. Functional work is high-fired in a reduction atmosphere while sculpture is low-fired.

Her tableware and functional sculpture are often inspired by the natural world.
