Suzanne Storer makes hand built ceramic wall pieces, figurative sculpture, and portrait plates.

Her figurative sculpture and portrait plates start with drawing from life followed by creating a high relief sculpture. Her portrait plates are usually 19”diameter x 2” high. Storer uses terra sigillata surface technique often covering each plate with up to ten coats followed by brushwork and sgraffito. She often uses dental tools to make the fine lines of her surface decoration. Storer considers Akio Takamori a major influence on her work. Storer’s wall sculptures vary in size but all start from drawing on the slab. The surface treatment can vary from terra sigillata, ceramic stain, acrylic paint to various glazes.
