BIOGRAPHY

Donald Schaumburg is known for thrown and altered gas fired functional pottery. Clays used included stoneware, or porcelain depending on the form. Schaumburg's stoneware pottery appears in a variety of earth toned glazes, while his porcelain wares are brighter in color. Across both bodies of work. Schaumburg's ssurface techniques used in the leather hard stage included altering forms out of round, and carving geometric patterns into the surfaces. In addition to his gas fired stoneware and porcelain, Schaumburg also created a number of works finished in a raku firing.
