Christopher Rumme’s work consists of functional vessels with intricately patterned brushwork surfaces. Although his signature work uses a stoneware clay body, he has also made pots in earthenware and porcelain.

Rumme, grew up in Japan where his father was a Lutheran missionary.

Rumme’s work is influenced by Marguerite Wildenhain, with whom he studied for two summers, his time in Japan, and also Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada.
