James Rothrock works with porcelain and colored porcelain that is slip cast and manipulated to create a range of covered jars and plates.

The surfaces on Rothrock's pieces are primarily white with rhythmic free-form colored surface decoration and carefully drawn linear elements. The pieces are sanded to give them a very smooth surface.
