Eric Picker was a production potter known for wheel thrown and hand built stoneware vessels, dinnerware, wind chimes, bonsai pots, bells, lanterns, candlesticks, and clocks. He also created sculptures, some of which were mixed media which incorporated wood and metal.

After the Korean War, Picker found it necessary to change occupations.  His need for peace and quiet lead him to Penland School of Crafts, where he discovered the joy of working with clay. He was very active in the Southern Highland Craft Guild, serving two years as President, and chairing and serving on many committees from 1962-1975.
