Alan Patrick is known for wheel-thrown porcelain or stoneware functional pottery. In the leather-hard stage, Patrick occasionally incises floral and plant motifs.

Patrick's pieces were fired in a high fire gas reduction kiln. His pieces feature a variety of earth-toned glazes.

After closing the pottery in 2006, Patrick devoted his efforts to painting.
