Phil Mayhew is known for utilitarian ceramics and decorative ceramics. His pieces are most often created on the potter's wheel using porcelain. Glazes often appear in a variety of earth tones, and blues.

Jewelry is often created by adding oxides and stains to porcelain beads. Phil and his wife, Terri Mayhew, co-own and operate Beersheba Porcelain, in Beersheba Springs, Tennessee.
