BIOGRAPHY

Paul Kotula is known for hand-built or wheel-thrown stoneware functional ceramics. Signature forms include tableware, especially squared plates. Kotula's plates feature rims that are developed using a double-walled construction method, adding volume to an otherwise flattened form. Works are glazed using a minimal decorative palette of lines or shapes. Kotula's finished surfaces typically appear in a variety of earth tones, shades of black, or tints of white.
