BIOGRAPHY

Kathleen Kneafsey, a West Virginia based potter, is known for wheel thrown functional stoneware: dinnerware, mugs, casserole dishes, bowls, and pieces which combine thrown and hand-built elements, such as “rooted vessels.”

 Kneafsey sites her family as a major inspiration for her work, stating, “As a mother, your main focus is to nurture and nourish your children, so it seemed only natural to want to create the pots I use with my family every day…There is something special about being surrounded by handmade things. You know that they were made with thought, intention, love, and a true appreciation for the material and its process.”1
