Robin D. Jones is known for functional and decorative wheel-thrown pottery. His signature forms include pitchers, teapots, bowls, and mugs. Surface decoration techniques include over glazes, slip trailing, and on occasion, surface carving or wax resist. His pottery is fired at mid-range in electric and gas kilns.

Jones fires his ware using both oxidation and reduction methods. Jones’ main influences include the production oriented folk potters of North Carolina and Georgia, and the Bauhaus aesthetic, especially the philosophy of Marguerite Wildenhain.
