BIOGRAPHY

Megan Hart makes wheel thrown and slab built functional pottery. Her earliest work was in porcelain, high-fired in a reduction atmosphere. This work is characterized by blue-white porcelain with underglaze curvilinear, frequently overall, floral motifs. Since about 1990, Hart has experimented with stoneware and mid-range firing in oxidation. Her drawings have expanded to include chickens, rabbits, and deer.

Megan Hart’s motifs are influenced by her love of flowers and animals, especially horses. She began painting horses on her pottery when she no longer had her own horses.
