BIOGRAPHY

 Raven Halfmoon is known for hand-built low-fire iron-rich earthenware sculptures. Characteristic forms are wall busts of war ponies and ‘tricksters’ (characters, usual animals in Native American legends) as well as large-scale human heads and clay flower arrangements. Much of Halfmoon’s work, deals with her  Native American Caddo Cultural heritage.

Halfmoon’s painterly approach to the underglaze colored slip surface decoration reflects that of Caddo pottery. Her work provides another Contemporary Native American voice within the larger scope of contemporary ceramics.
