Joshua Edgar is known for stoneware and porcelain functional and sculptural work. . His work is wood fired, raku-fired, and/or gas fired. His sculptural work can be representational or abstract, and often uses mixed media adding iron, wood, brass or leather.

Themes include the line between functionality and art, and finding beauty in imperfection. He is influenced by the artists Janine Antoni, Akira Satake, and Shozo Michikawa.
