BIOGRAPHY

Hugh Bailey is known for ceramic sculptures of animals that are part real and part mythical often referencing Chinese and Egyptian sculptures. They sometimes include people. 

Bailey studied with Karl Martz at Indiana University. Animals have fascinated him throughout his life. His charming sculptures of cats, raccoons, rabbits and other animals offer layers of information requiring a careful look.  Bailey began his career as a painter of animals and continued to divide his time between painting and ceramics.
