Nicole Aquillano is known for slip-cast porcelain forms, high-fired in an electric kiln. Surface lines are created with mishima (a technique of inlaying color slip into lines incised into wet clay then wiping the surface to keep inlaid slips clearly defined against the contrasting clay body).

Nicole Aquillano trained and worked as a civil engineer; the problem-solving techniques and efficient work habits she developed during this period influenced her studio practice.
