BIOGRAPHY
Tom Jaszczak is known for wheel-thrown and altered earthenware utilitarian pottery. The work has either a square or triangular form which is low fired in a soda environment. Surface technique includes graphic solid colored lines and rectangular shapes of underglaze colored slips (liquid clays). Shapes are typically applied with a brush. Jaszczak’s fingerprints may be seen in finished work.
Through exposure to the history of Minnesota pottery, Jaszczak balances traditional craft functional ware with modern sensibilities.
