BIOGRAPHY

Joyce St. Claire Voltz is known for assembling both wheel-thrown and hand-built elements to produce sculptural porcelain vessels. Voltz’s decorative technique include both deeply carved curvilinear motifs, reticulation, press molded motifs and the uses of the glaze runs effect that result from the generous application of bright colored glazes. Often large areas are left unglazed to expose the contrasting white porcelain vessel body.

Voltz studied with Ted Adler and Brenda Lichman at Wichita State University.
