Barbara Sebastian is known for a range of work including small ceramic jars, bird shaped teapots, and architectural-scale clay murals.

The small jars are wheel thrown and carved to create a fluid surface illustrating water, lightening or atmosphere. The teapots in the form of a raven visually reflect an experience she had in Japan with a raven and a persimmon. In her large scale murals, and "wallworks," Sebastian explores abstraction, color and the material qualities of fired clay. These large-scale works are often done for corporate commissions.
